TEDxUniversityofEastAnglia is the first ever TEDx event to be conducted at the UEA. As a university event, this is being curated and organised by the students of the University of East Anglia and will feature a wide array of speakers.
On Saturday 24th February 2018, we will welcome thought-provoking, inspirational speakers, thinkers and doers to our first event, where we will explore the theme ‘Do Different’ at The Enterprise Centre in Norwich. Being also the UEA’s motto, the slogan ‘Do Different’ shows the spirit of the students, staff and other members of the community in our university. The theme embodies the broad spectrum of individual journeys but all the talks will be united by a common aim to foster learning and inspiration.
We believe the event will challenge the viewers to step out of the box, overcome their doubts and dare to ‘Do Different’.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. These events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
TEDx event is a unique gathering in the local community where TED-like talks unleashing new ideas, inspiring and informing are shared. The content and design of each TEDx event is unique and developed independently, but all of them have common features.
A TEDx event is fully organised and coordinated by volunteers from the local community, and just like TED events, it lacks commercial, religious or political agenda. Its goal is to spark conversation, connection and community.
The welcoming city of Norwich is a wonderful fusion of the modern and historic, one complementing the other. From the early 1500s until the mid-eighteen century the city ranked as England’s second city, and has since remained East Anglia’s regional capital. Being one of the most important cities in Medieval Britain, it is still said to be the most complete medieval city in Western Europe north of the Alps. Norwich is also a city of stories, being the first England’s UNESCO City of Literature. As well as having the heritage that is a delight to explore the city has a flourishing arts, music and cultural scene. All these hidden gems offer the warmth, inspiration and vivacity making Norwich the sparkling jewel of the East Anglia.
